Hi, my name is Nathan van Dijk, and my concern is over the Student First Program. I got the email saying "Click here to choose payment" and opened it on my laptop, and when the payment screen came up I tried tapping 'choose payment' drop down list, I'm assuming that I instead hit 'purchase', because now when I access the page it comes up blank and sure enough on my financial center it shows a $219 charge.

Here's the thing: I did not want to purchase those. I do not want any of those textbooks. I never wished to purchase any of those textbooks through the bookstore because I have already bought them elsewhere. I'm not even a freshman, so the fact that I was automatically enrolled in the system and that BYU just assumed that I wanted to purchase these is concerning. I need these charges removed, and I honestly feel like this whole thing is a bit shady. If BYU wants to ask students if they want to buy a textbook that's fine, but don't just send me an email telling me that the textbooks have already been bought and that I need to choose a form of payment. That comes across as a blatant money grab to me.

Please remove these charges as soon as possible.

Hello!

I was ordering Aloha Plate on the Mobile Ordering App. I went to complete my purchase via Cougar Cash. The app charged me $8.88. but then I still had a subtotal I needed to pay. I went to add funds to my Cougar Cash account, but when I returned to finish my order, I had to begin the purchase all over again. However, the charge for $8.88 went through without a receipt and without any order.

My account needs to be credited $8.88.

Hi there,

I had some mental health challenges come up during the Winter 2023 semester and had to withdraw from the majority of my classes. As a result, I switched from being a full-time student to a part-time student and was required to pay $25 to continue using the athletic facilities. I paid the charge at the RB Front Desk with my debit card on March 11th. At the time I was also playing on an innertube waterpolo team but they could find no record of me having paid the fee to participate. Thus, they charged my student account. Can you help me resolve this?

Hello!

I was initially charged for a meal plan throughout the course of the summer, though I wasn't in Utah for the entire summer. I was able to get these charges waived earlier, but I still have a late fee for not paying for the month of July. Could I please get this late fee expense waived?

Best,

Luke Thompson

Hello,  I was taking a look at my late charges and I noticed several charges that were past the date that I was enrolled at BYU. I only attended BYU for the Winter semester of 2019 but it looks like I am being charged for healthy insurance for the Spring, Summer, and fall semesters of 2019 as well and the Winter, Spring and Summer semesters of 2020. Can you please assist with these charges?

Thank you!

Hello,

I made a purchase through Subway at the CougarEat on Monday December 4. I received a receipt for this payment totaling in $8.78. I do not see record of being charged for this payment, but I did receive a charge from BYU on December 4th for $150.89. I do not know what this charge was for, but I believe it was made in error when I should have been charged for my Subway transaction. If you could give me more information or help me correct this mistake I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,

MaCall Smith

Hello. I remember talking with someone last year and explaining to them I do not need the student health insurance. I told them that I will never need it so i'm not sure why I have charges for it again. I would really appreciate it if i could get these charges off my account asap so i can apply for winter classes. Sorry for the miscommunication.

I signed up for and took the challenge exam last semester and paid the $20 fee. However, my account got charged twice for the same exam. Would you be able to delete the second fee since I already paid for the first one?

I tried to order Wendy’s on the app with 5.40 cougar cash, but I was short 15 cents or so, and when I exited the app, it still took my $5.40 in cougar cash. I need to be refunded that $5.40 since I didn’t get a receipt or an order. Thanks!

Hello,

I am writing to appeal all charges I have from this semester and last related to the student healthcare plan. I have health insurance and have resolved the issue with the health department, and never intended to be placed on a student health plan nor utilized any benefits. I’d love to have the charges appealed given I was already insured. Let me know if I can be of any help in the process! Thanks!

Hello, I am writing to ask for a refund on my washing machine use. I put in two loads in two separate machines and ran them both simultaneously, and both were charged. However, when I checked on them after the cycle had run one of them had not ran at all, leaving my clothes still dirty, yet I was charged. I would love to receive those funds back. Thank you.

Hello, I made a purchase order for an adobe creative cloud license and I actually did not need to buy that license. Can I get this charge removed from my financial center? Thanks!

Hello,  I was taking a look at my late charges and I noticed several charges for for health plan insurance for Spring and Summer semesters. I paid them because I had a hold on my account but then realized that I shouldn't be paying for the health insurance when I am not enrolled for spring or summer semesters. Is there any way I can get that money back? I haven't used the student health plan for the spring or the summer.

Hi,

I ordered online, the subway mobile order, and it charged me $5.42 which was all I had on my card. The app showed that I had to pay more, so went out of the app and put more money in my cougar cash account and then proceeded to order again. It took the correct order. However, I still see that there is a minus -$5.42 that was removed from my account for an uncompleted order. I would like that money back. Thank you.

Hi my name is Sara and I got double charged on my dining account when I checked out at the creamery. I saw the charges go through but the cashier said the payment did not go through so she had me pay again but I checked and was charged twice. If the second charge could be removed as soon as possible that would be great. Thank you.

Hi,

I’m reaching out because I was charged on my student account for a textbook for one of my online classes, but I never used or accessed the material. I wasn’t aware that this charge would be automatic, and since the textbook was not utilized in the course, I would like to request a refund or petition the charge.

Here are my details:

  • NetID: Sbell78

Hello!

I was ordering Chick-fil-A on the Mobile Ordering App. I went to complete my purchase via Cougar Cash. The app charged me $2.38 but then I still had a subtotal I needed to pay. I went to add funds to my Cougar Cash account, but when I returned to finish my order, I had to begin the purchase all over again. However, the charge for $2.38 went through without a receipt and without any order.

My account needs to be credited $2.38.

Best,

Katie Bayles
